Shaykh Senad Effendi Agic is representative of the Bosnia-Hercegovina National Ministry of Religion in America.

Senad Agic was born in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s equivalent in Arabic from the University of Sarajevo. Dr. Agic earned the Doctor of Ministry and Doctor of Philosophy in Islamic Studies from the Foundation and in 2004 received the Jalaluddin Rumi Prize in Islamic Studies. In 2006, he was awarded the Imam Malik Fellowship from the Foundation. His published works include Immigration and Assimilation: The Bosnian Muslim Experience in Chicago and A Centennial of Bosniaks in North America, both published in English and Bosnian. He has also published many articles in various journals on Islamic and other topics. In 1989, Dr. Agic was named Imam at the Islamic Cultural Center of Greater Chicago in Northbrook, Illinois. He has been active in interfaith programs and interfaith dialogue associations, and has participated in discussions on peace and conflict with and among religions on National Public Radio, Voice of America, Radio Free Europe, Deutsche Welle, and other media outlets around the world. Dr. Agic’s academic interests focus on traditional Islam which shuns extremism and religious animosity in favor of coexistence, cooperation, dialogue, and mutual understanding, appreciation and respect. He is married and is the father of two children. He has been appointed a MECCA Project consultant.
